Generative AI adoption: from test to scale

The challenge.
In 2024, as different generative AI models entered the market, Credem, one of Italy’s leading financial institutions, began exploring how to integrate this technology into its operations. Before the advent of generative AI, much of the bank’s internal automation relied on machine learning algorithms and robotic process automation. However, many activities still required manual intervention and the support of specialized technical staff to develop ad hoc solutions.
The introduction of generative AI raised new strategic questions: What needs do we actually have? Who experiences them? How many people are affected? Which internal processes could be optimized through this technology?
The challenge was to move from fragmented experimentation to a structured framework for identifying high-value applications of generative AI — those that could tangibly reduce delays and inefficiencies.
